Maintenance by collection

Wood and oak

Dust with a dry cloth; for stains, use an almost dry cloth. Do not use steam, excessive water or harsh degreasers.

Hydro

Wipe with a soft, slightly damp cloth, then dry thoroughly. Make sure no moisture remains in the window or installation connections.

Aluminium

Remove dust and light dirt with a soft cloth and mild soapy water, then dry thoroughly.

Hinges and operation

Never force panels or louvres. Report any persistent resistance, sagging or unusual gap so the adjustment can be checked.

Short answer

The essentials at a glance

Regular light maintenance prevents dust, moisture and tension from building up. Clean according to the material and never force a panel or louvre.

Practical: Use little moisture, soft materials and never force louvres or panels. Minor irregularities can usually be corrected easily with timely servicing.

The choices that make the difference

Four points to assess before requesting a quotation

1

Remove dust regularly

A soft cloth, feather duster or suitable brush helps prevent stubborn dirt from building up.

2

Use minimal moisture

Excessive water, steam and aggressive degreasers can damage the finish, wood or hardware.

3

Check movement

Look out for rubbing, panels that close unevenly and louvres that do not move evenly.

4

Request servicing promptly

A minor adjustment can prevent further wear or damage.

Avoid disappointment

Common mistakes when buying shutters

  • Using abrasive products
  • Forcing a louvre or hinge
  • Allowing a minor irregularity to continue for years

From idea to installation

How a carefully managed made-to-measure process works

  1. Collect photos and approximate measurements of the windows.
  2. Compare material, colour, louvre size and operation.
  3. Have every window professionally measured at multiple points.
  4. Confirm the panel layout, technical details, price and schedule.
  5. Have your shutters installed, adjusted and explained to you.

Frequently asked questions

When is servicing preferable to making adjustments yourself?

When a panel rubs, a louvre does not move evenly or hardware appears to be coming loose, it is advisable to have it checked promptly. Forcing it can cause further damage.

Is the same solution suitable for every window or room?

No. Practical cleaning and maintenance advice for each material. Window type, dimensions, installation position, material load and everyday use are assessed for each situation.

What does DeVo check during the professional site survey?

We take measurements at multiple points and check the frame, reveal, handles, opening direction, windowsill, available panel clearance, and the desired louvre and panel configuration, among other details.

How do louvre size and panel configuration affect the result?

They determine how many lines you see, how open the view through is and how practically the panels can open. The proportions in relation to the window matter more than one standard size.

Can I compare materials, colours and operating options first?

Yes. During your consultation and in the Oud-Turnhout showroom, you can compare current collections, colour samples, louvre sizes and operating options side by side.

Are measuring and installation included in the process?

Yes. DeVo guides the project from advice and technical measuring through to made-to-measure production, installation, adjustment and guidance on use and care.
