Our advice on this comparison
If you prioritise appearance, made-to-measure quality and durable window finishing, shutters are often the better choice. When insulation and a compact textile look are the priorities, Duettes are a logical option.
Look beyond the purchase price to consider appearance, maintenance, installation, window accessibility and everyday use. During a consultation, DeVo can compare the options based on your actual windows and living situation.
Choose objectively
Six criteria for an honest comparison of shutters and Duettes
Light control
How precisely can you control direct light without closing everything completely?
Privacy
Can privacy at seating height be improved while daylight remains above?
Window use
Do the handles, tilt-and-turn position, sliding sections and ventilation remain accessible?
Maintenance
What cleaning does the material require, and how well does the system withstand intensive use?
Durability
Is the product made to measure, adjustable and serviceable under normal wear and tear?
Appearance
Does the solution suit the window layout, interior and scale of the room?
Compare like with like
For both solutions, consider the same window size, finish, installation, operation and service. A basic product price cannot be compared with fully measured and installed made-to-measure shutters.

Frequently asked questions
Which solution is most durable in everyday use?
That depends on the material, operation, frequency of use and maintenance. Compare more than just the purchase price: consider made-to-measure production, repairability and expected service life.
Which solution offers the most precise control of light and privacy?
Shutters allow the louvres to be tilted precisely and the panels to be opened independently. With Duettes, light control depends on the chosen system and its position in front of the window.
Can I compare both solutions in person first?
Yes. Bring photos and approximate measurements to a consultation and compare the material, colour, operation and window space side by side.
What matters most when making the final choice?
The window type, room, moisture levels, desired privacy, maintenance, budget and how the window is opened every day matter more than one overall winner.
